Who are we?
We are a group of Certified Work Incentive Practitioners and Employment Specialists. We have worked in the area of Vocational Rehabilitation since 2015. Recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) can be referred to Heron Vocational Services to speak with a Certified Work Incentive Practitioner. The program’s purpose is to ensure that recipients obtain correct information and can use it to make a successful transition to work. Ask your vocational rehabilitation counselor for a referral today!
- We have Community Work Incentives Coordinators who will: -provide in-depth counseling about benefits and the effect of work on those benefits;
- -conduct outreach efforts to beneficiaries of SSI and SSDI (and their families) who are potentially eligible to participate in Federal or State work incentives programs; and
- -work in cooperation with Federal, State, and private agencies and nonprofit organizations that serve disabled SSI and SSDI beneficiaries.
How to Receive Our Services and What To Expect
To begin receiving our services, please follow these two simple steps:
1. Obtain a Referral Request a referral from your Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. This step is essential to ensure we can provide you with the appropriate support and services.
2. Request a BPQY Contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) to request a copy of your Benefits Planning Query (BPQY). This document provides important information about your Social Security benefits and work history, which we need to tailor our services to your needs.
What happens next?
1. Intake Interview Once we receive your referral and BPQY, our team will contact you to schedule an intake interview. This conversation helps us better understand your goals, needs, and current situation.
2. Report Preparation After the intake, we will compile a customized benefits and work incentives report based on your individual circumstances. This report will include essential information and guidance to support your decision-making.
3. Review Meeting When your report is ready, we’ll schedule a meeting with you to review the findings together. During this session, we’ll explain the information in detail and answer any questions you may have.
